    Nat Turner's Rebellion
    Nat was a black American slave who led the only effective, sustained slave rebellion in U.S. history. Nat and six other slaves killed the Travis family, his was sold to them, and secured arms and horses. 75 other slaves joined him which led to the murder of 51 whites. He hid for six weeks but was caught and hung in Virginia with 16 of his followers. This sparked fear in the hearts of white people. It also caused laws for slaves to be more harsh and owners to be even crueler to the slaves.
