The first camera
The first camera was invented by Johann Zahn in 1816. when extended the bed of the camera measured 20ft in length.The camera was so big that it weighed 1,400 pounds(635kg), and needed a flat surface to lay on. -
Kodak
In 1888 the first Kodak was placed on the market. The camera was a simple hand held box camera containing a 100-exposure roll of film that used paper negatives. The Kodak camera shown to use the flexible roll film George invented in 1888. It took 100-exposure rolls of film that gave circular images 2 5/8" in diameter. In 1888 the original Kodak sold for $25 loaded with a roll of film and included a leather carrying case.

Canon
In 1934 it produced the Kwanon, a prototype for Japan's first-ever 35 mm camera with a focal-plane-based shutter. In 1947 the company name was changed to Canon Camera Co., Inc., shortened to Canon Inc. in 1969. The VT model is the first Canon camera designed for mass production. -
Nikon
In 1948, the first Nikon-branded camera was released, the Nikon I.
The Nikon lenses were popularised by the American photojournalist David Douglas Duncan. Duncan was working in Tokyo when the Korean War began. Duncan had met a young Japanese photographer, Jun Miki, who introduced Duncan to Nikon lenses. -
Sony
On August 25th 1981, Sony unveiled a prototype of the Sony Mavica as the world's first electronic still camera. As with all Mavica cameras until the early 1990s (including later models sold commercially) this first model was not digital. -
Mobile phones
The first commercial camera phone was the Kyocera Visual Phone VP-210 it was released in Japan in May 1999. It was called a "mobile videophone" at the time, and had a 110,000-pixel front-facing camera. -
Phones now
Now 203 years later from when it was invented we have cameras in phones that can take a ton of photos in a second. And can take photos in full color. And come out the second you take them without waiting for the film to show up.
