    The Spanish exploration coming to the new world is that they brought disease over as in smallpox. They worked the Native Americans so hard that most died, and had to bring African Americans to be their new slaves. They forced Christanity on the Natvie Americans and the African Americans.

    Religion with its ideas and values influenced political, economic, and social devlopment because all three were under control pf the church. Religion was the center of poltics, economics, and social development because everyone followed Christianity or the Puritan church.

    In 1607 English settlers founded Jamestown,Virginia. It was the first ENglish colony in America. Many more settlers came to the new land and became farmers. As Puritans came to the new English colonies they dominated their community. The colonies had some self-government. The southern colonies created a rural society based on farming. Owners with large plantations dominated society and the econmomy.

    The colonist rebelled against the British because they were putting taxes on the tea and stamps. So the colonist dumped the english tea into the Boston harbor and that was the start of the Boston Tea Party. With the Stamp Act the colonist had to put stamps on certain items because Grenville believed that the colonist were smuggling goods in and werent paying taxes on them.

    President Jefferson wanted to make the federal government smaller, but at the time the Surpreme Court wanted to increase its power. Jefferson expanded America territory. He bought Louisiana Territory from France. During thid time Britain and France were at war. Then both sides threatened American merchant ships and forced them to join the British navy, finally in 1812 Congress declared war on Britain. The war led Americans to develope their own industries.

    The Market revolution happened before the Civil War. New technology was being devloped like transportation and communication. By 1811 there were steam boats all up the rivers. In 1828 was when the railroad made its impression on America.

    America would explain to the Africans that they would have a better life in the Americans and would have a roof over their head and have food to eat, as they wouldnt tell them that they would become slaves. Slavery was abolished in 1864.

Hard labor came about when they worked days and nights for their jobs but then that led to the labor strikes. This all led to the depression of 1893-1894.

The changes affecting slavery is when the Thirteenth Amenment that abolished slavery. Congress vcreated the Freedmens Bureauto help former slaves. The fight with Johnson led Congress to find grounds to impeach he president. Johmson avoided conviction and removal from office.

    The Western Frontier was home of the Native Americans.Thier home was the Great Plains. But when the settlers were moving in thier land and were taking over the plains. The settlers came in and killed off most of the buffalo and took most of the Native Americans land. Many Native Americans were the first cowboys.

    In 1876 Thomas Edison established a research labortory for new inventions. Cities were developing electric railways and businesses were building factories powered by electricity. The typewritter was invented in 1867 and the telephone was invented in 1876 and appearded for the first time in 1876.

    The Reconstruction was from1865-1877. Life for the newly freed slaves was that they got their own land, the right to vote, and got to be free. But some bad things happened too, like how the KKK started up (Ku Klux Klan, a group who would terrorize African Americans, when they were freed they were very poor, and uneducated. So most worked on their lands and started new.

    Fuel in the form of kerosene was refined from oil and coal. This helped spur growth. Steel was becoming of great use for the railroads. Many inventions were being made. In 1890 rail lines totaled more than 200,000 miles. But running the rail roads and buillding them was becoming a problem. This was dangerous work for the workers. By 1888 more than 2,000 people had died, and another 20,000 were injured. The industrial age was full of new inventions and oppertunity.

    Railroads were being built were being callled the transcontinental railroads. These stretched from East to West, this heloed promote settlement on the Plains. The Homestead Act offered cheap lamd to farmers. This attracted more than 400,000 from 1862 to 1900. Several thousand were Afican Americans.The new settlers endured many hardships. Womem worked in the fields alongside men, and also tended to the children.

    Immigants started to migrate to the Americas and America wasnt treating the immigrants equaly. Race was becoming a problem with the immigrants. They were dicriminated and threatened. The economic effects came into place with the the immigrants "taking their jobs" Because the immigrants would except lower pay wages. Social-Welfare was also a problem, the immigrants had to live in horrible living conditions.
