    Arrive in Carcas, Venezuela
    While flying over the Venezuelan city of Caracas, just prior to landing, the rich cultural heritage is clearly visible, in part due to the SEQUENT OCCUPANCE (The notion that successive societies leave their cultural imprints on a place, each contributing to the cumulative cultural landscape) of the original American Indians along with the Spanish and Africans arriving post spanish conquest and the Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, German and Jewish immigrants.

    Flying over the Caribbean Sea to Venezuela
    In each country we explore a CULTURE TRAIT (The specific customs that are part of the everyday life of a particular culture, such as language, religion, ethnicity, social institutions, and aspects of popular culture) and interact with the people and their CULTURES (The behaviors and belied characteristics of a particular group).
    Starting in Venezuela, Chloe & Zoey participate in the traditional Joropo festival.
  • Hotel Stay

    Hotel Stay
    Shortly after landing Chloe and Zoey waste no time. They use their previously booked "TaxiToCaracas" to travel to "Eurobuilding Hotel and Suites" and arrive at 4am. They sleep until 10am. At 10, Zoey and Chloe will eat the included breakfast and check out of the hotel at 10:30am, taking a 14-minute "TeleTaxi" ride to Bolivar Square, where they will join in on the traditional "Joropo" Festival.

    Joropo Festival
    Joropo is part of the FOLKLORIC(Unwritten stories, proverbs, riddles, songs, of a culture) genre and was originally performed at RURAL (Living in or characteristic of farming or country life) dance festivals. The Joropo is a Venezuelan FOLK CULTURE(Traditional culture) and is viewed as an expression of national identity. While they are at this festival, they will immerse themselves in the culture, joining in on the singing of FOLK SONGS(Songs that are transmitted orally) as well as music & food.
  • Taxi & Flight to Madrid

    Taxi & Flight to Madrid
    Using their previously booked "TaxiToCaracas," Zoey and Chloe depart the Joropo festival at 1:00pm on March 8th 2015, and arrive at CCS at 2:00pm, for their 4:00pm flight to Madrid, a way-point for their second stop, Casablanca, Morocco.

    In our amazing race, we"re traveling the world going from Miami, Florida to Carcas, Venezuela, then to Casablanca, Morocco but we need to take a quick stop in Madrid. Next comes Delhi, India, and then to Tokyo, Japan and to finish off we head to Nadi, Fiji where we then return home to MIA.

    Madrid Layover
    As Chloe and Zoey wait out their 1 hour lay-over in Madrid, they ponder the DIFFUSION (the spatial spreading or dissemination of a culture element or some other phenomenon) of Christianity and come to determine that due to Christianity being a universalizing religion, it is spread mainly by EXPANSION DIFFUSION(the spread of an innovation or an idea through a population in an area in such a way that the number of those influenced grows larger, resulting in an expanding area of dissemination).

    Flight to Casablanca
    At 7:00 am local time, the two board their 1 hour 50 minute flight to Casablanca, landing at 7:50am local time.
  • Eid Al Arch Custom

    Eid Al Arch Custom
    From the airport, Zoey and Chloe took a Petit Taxi to the Place des Nations Unies in central Casablanca. Here they observe the Eid Al Arch custom (practice routinely followed by a group of people) that celebrates the coronation of the King MOHAMMED (the Arab founder of Islam) VI on this national holiday.

    Chloe and Zoey join in on this traditional ISLAMIC (a religion based on the teachings of Muhammad) festival, featuring a jovial atmosphere that is enjoyed in Casablanca with live music&dancing.
  • Flight to Madrid

    Flight to Madrid
    Zoey & Chloe fly from 4:00pm to 6:00am local time in madrid; sleeping on the plane ride and eating the food provided. As the plane nears Madrid, the pair observe many CITIES (Conglomeration of people and buildings clustered together to serve as a center of politics, culture and economics) and the CULTURAL ECOLOGY(The multiple interactions and relationship between a culture and the natural environment) making up the CULTURAL LANDSCAPE(The visible imprint of human activity & culture on the lands).

    Pondering on Plane
    The effects of the UNIVERSALIZING RELIGION (A belief system that espouses the idea that there is one true religion that is universal in scope; adherants of U.R systems often believe that their religion represents universal truths, and in some cases great effort is undertaken in evangelism and missionary work) Christianity are clearly visible 77% of Spain's population claims to belong to the CATHOLIC CHURCH (A second of the 3 major branches of Christianity).
  • Taxi and Flight to Delhi

    Taxi and Flight to Delhi
    Chloe and Zoey remain a part of the festivities until 3pm. Then, they take an approximately 30 minute Petit Taxi ride to the Muhammad V International Airport to catch their 5pm flight to Delhi. Chloe and Zoey are in the air for 12 hours and 30 minutes and arrive at 11am local time (due to the 5 hour and 30 minute time difference).

    They take an 18minute Delhi Metro ride from the airport to the Dwarkadheesh Temple in the CENTRAL CITY (the urban area that is not suburban; generally, the older or original city that is surrounded by newer suburbs) of Delhi.

    Holi Festival
    On this national holiday celebrating the return spring, the traditional CASTE SYSTEM(the strict social segregation of people, specifically India’s Hindu society, on the basis of ancestry and occupation)is almost totally dissipated during this festival.This national holiday has spread over time through EXPANSION DIFFUSION (the spread of an innovation or an idea through a population in an area in such a way that the number of those influenced grows continuously larger, resulting in dissemination).

    Chloe and Zoey are thrilled to immerse themselves in this miraculous festival of color, all the while enjoying traditional Indian LANDSCAPE (the overall appearance of an area. Most landscapes are comprised of a combination of natural and human-induced influences) that truly give a color induced Chloe and Zoey a sense of PLACE (the fourth theme of geography; uniqueness of a location).

    At 1pm, Zoey and Chloe take an 18-minute Delhi Metro ride from Dwarkadheesh Temple to the Delhi Airport
  • Flight from India to Tokyo

    Flight from India to Tokyo
    They arrive approximately 1hours and 45 minutes early for their 3pm flight. Departing India at 3pm, Chloe and Zoey are in the air for 6 hours and 30 minutes and arrive in Tokyo at 1am local time (because of the three hour and 30 minute time difference).

    The pair takes a 15minute SunTaxi ride from the Tokyo airport to the Richmond Hotel Narita, arriving at their hotel at 1:15am. Chloe and Zoey then sleep until 11am the next day. Waking up at 11am, the duo takes a 10minute SunTaxi to Choushukaku Residence in Sankei Garden

    Sankei Garden Tea Ceremony
    Sankei Garden, an AUTHENTIC (the accuracy with which a single stereotypical or typecast image or experience convers an otherwise dynamic and complex local culture) Japanese tea house, way beyond the bustling, urban CITY (conglomeration of people and buildings clustered together to sever as a center of politics, culture and economics) of Japan, lies the CULTURAL HEARTH (heartland, source, innovation center; place of origin of a culture or custom) of the Japanese Tea Ceremony.
  • Sankei Garden Tea Ceremony (part2)

    Sankei Garden Tea Ceremony (part2)
    The ceremony is called Chanoyu and is the choreographic RITUAL (a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order) of preparing and serving Japanese tea, the process is all about preparing a bowl of tea, from the bottom of one’s heart.
  • Sankei Garden Tea Ceremony (part 3)

    Sankei Garden Tea Ceremony (part 3)
    This ceremony among the many other traditional Japanese traditions is a major pull factor (positive conditions and perceptions that effectively attract people to leave their abode and migrate to a new locale) to immigrants (a person migrating into a particular country or area) all across the world.
  • Tokyo Metropolitan Ride

    Tokyo Metropolitan Ride
    As their time participating the magnificent traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony comes to an end; Chloe and Zoey then take the Tokyo Metropolitan to the airport at 4pm. Giving them two hours before their 6pm flight to Fiji.
  • Fiji Flight

    Departing at 6pm, Chloe and Zoey begin their 9 hour and 25 minute flight to Fiji; they sleep on the plane ride and arrive in Nadi, Fiji at 7:25am local time (due to the 4 hour time difference).
  • Lovo Feast

    Lovo Feast
    At 6pm, the head to participate in a traditional Fijian CUSTOM (practice routinely followed by a group of people); the Lovo Feast. During this outing, the pair participate in a CULTURAL TRAIT (a single element of normal practice in a culture) trait of Fijians, they will walk barefoot on scalding hot rocks; and come out unscathed, enjoy a customary kava tasting ceremony and join in on the Meke, spiritually dancing along.

    At 9pm, when the festivities have concluded, they will return to their room, getting a good night sleep before they return to MIA.
  • Taxi to Hotel

    Taxi to Hotel
    They then take a 16minute Taxi to their hotel. Along the way they observe the massive agriculture (the purposeful tending of crops and livestock in order to produce food and fiber) industry as well as Fiji’s high physiologic population density (the number of people per unit area of arable land) due to their considerable sugar industry). They arrive at 7:41am, and spend the day enjoying the Fijian landscape (the overall appearance of an area) and all that the hotel has to offer.

    Taxi and Flight to LAX
    Chloe and Zoey wake up at 6am and travel 16 minutes in their previously booked taxi and arrive at the Nadi airport in Fiji, two hours early for their 8am flight to LAX, a layover for their final destination: MIA. The pair boards the 10-hour flight at 8am, landing in LAX at 6pm.
  • Flight Home!!

    Flight Home!!
    They wait their one-hour lay over and start the 5 hour and 15 minute flight home. As they fly they talk about all the amazing cultures they observed and took part in, knowing that the experience they had just had, was once in a lifetime. At 11:15, Chloe and Zoey are home again; looking forward to their next adventure.
