    John Adams was the vice president of federalists and Thomas Jefferson seceratary of state - democratic-republican. Adam recieved most votes and became president with Jefferson as vice president.

    This election was Adams vs. Jefferson. Jefferson wins with a smooth transition of government from one political party to another in charge.

    When Adams left office he placed Federalists in judgeships in order to keep some power in the hands of the federalists. Jefferson refused to deliver the paper work.

    The Louisiana Territory/Purchase cost 15 million dollars and more than doubled the size of U.S. Napolean offered to sell and Jefferson proceeded not knowing if he was allowed to. We wanted this territory because we did not want a forced alliance with Britain.
