    Stamp Act
    The colonists reacted with fury as they torched the homes of stamp distributers. The colonists also captured stamps and destroyed them. The colonists completely refused to comply with the act. The colonists had no representatives in Parliament and believed the Stamp Act clearly violated their right as English citizens to have taxes laid only by those whom the British have elected. This is asymmetrical because the colonists wrote it.

  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A mob of American colonists starts taunting British soldiers. The colonists started throwing snowballs and other objects at the British regulars. Someone was hit and caused the first shot. 5 colonists died. This is asymmetrical because the deaths of the 5 people are referred to as the first deaths in the American Revolutionary War.

    Tea Tax
    The patriots' reaction came as a shock to the British. Since the colonies were not represented in Parliament, they saw the Tea Act as unconstitutional. Circulars and handbills were printed and distributed. The Sons of Liberty organized public demonstration against the British government. Colonists boycotted. The colonists wanted the tea sent back to England. This is asymmetrical because the Colonists acted different then the British thought they were.

    The colonists shot the British behind trees and fences killing 125 British including several officers. The Americans surrounded Boston and started gaining many new recruits. This is asymmetrical because the colonists came out stronger than the British thought they were.

    . When the British planned to occupy Dorchester Heights on the Boston Peninsula, the colonists became alarmed at the build up of British troops off of the coast. The colonists decided that action had to be taken so as to stop the threatening British movement in this territory to protect themselves from an attack.     About getting away from Britain. Used language a common person could understand led people to unite in freedom. He wrote that America had many different kinds of people, not just British. He stated the distance between each other was very timely. Being a part of Britain would mean America would have to fight unnecessary wars. This would prevent colonists from foreign trade. This is asymmetrical because only the colonists wrote this.

    Washington had his troops leave their fires burning at night and went North.While traveling, a rumor spread and split up his troops. The British general mistaken the colonists and led the British into a trap.     Battle of Saratoga
    During the summer of 1776, a powerful army under British General Sir William Howe invaded New York City. His men defeated General Washington's men. When small pox hit his troops, it killed many soldiers. When the British tried to invade Canada, they failed because of lack of geographic skills. Although driven from the battlefield, the British had suffered heavy casualties and Gates’ army still blocked his move south to Albany. This is symmetrical because it won foreign assistance for Americans.

    Of the 11000 soldiers stationed at Valley Forge, hundreds died from disease. However, Geogre Washington held them together by loyalty. When the men marched out of Valley Forge, they were more disciplined and stronger in spirit then when they entered. Nine days later, they won two victories against the British.     The British marched to Charleston after many successful battles in the South. It took many days of fighting until the Americans actually surrendered. Because the colonists surrendered, that made the British have power over most of the southern colonies.     Battle of Yorktown
    Washington moved his troops to New York City because the British were in VA . The Americans win the Battle of Chesapeake. . General Washington created siege lines to block the British. The British were hit with the smallpox which made the situation worse. Out of ammunition and unable to sift his army, Cornwallis opened negotiations with Washington.
