  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    A war fought between England and France over the Ohio River Valley as well as trade. Native Americans fought on the French side. England won the war
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    After the French and Indian war the king sent out a proclamation called the Proclamation of 1763. The Proclamation was an attempt to try and ease tensions between the Native Americans by saying the colonist could not pass the Appalachian Mountains. This made the Colonist angry because they felt the Indians were being chosen over them.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    Even though England won the French and Indian War, It left England in a huge pile of debt. Because of this King George decided to place an act called The Sugar Act. The Sugar Act was an act that didn't allow any trading on sugar, Molasses from the French.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    Still in debt King George placed another act called The Stamp Act. The Stamp act placed Taxes on things like legal documents, paper, playing cards, Newspapers. If you paid the tax they would put a stamp on it to show you paid the tax.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a deadly riot that ended in deaths of Innocent people. Tensions were high between the colonist and the British soldiers (Red Coats). The riot started when a mob of angry Colonist who were at a bar passed the place where The King kept the taxes. The colonist started by throwing snowballs at the Red Coats. The red coats got mad and started firing at them.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The tea act was a attempt to finish paying off war debt. Colonist were only aloud to buy and trade from the British company. The colonist got angry because the kings tea was more expensive than other tea company's.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    After a few months of the tea act, the Colonist decided to do something about it. On December 16th 1773, The colonist snuck onto a kings ship and dumped 342 chests of the kings tea into the Boston harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    After the Boston Tea Party, The king was really angry about all of the rebelling the colonist have been doing and decided it was time to do something about it. In 1774 he passed the Intolerable acts. The intolerable acts was designed to punish Massachusetts for the Boston tea party. The punishments were incredibly harsh, the colonist decided to support Massachusetts.
