    Battle of Bunker Hill
Although it was a loss for the American army, they received tremendous confidence in their military abilities. Britain's forces received detrimental casualties due to the surprise attack led by Colonel William Prescott. Their loss was blamed upon the American troops running out of ammunition by the time the third wave of British troops arrived.

    Winter in Valley Forge
The winter of 1777 in Valley Forge took a huge toll on Washington's forces. The site offered a comfortable distance from the city while also allowing them to protect themselves. However, they all suffered from the cold, diesease, and starvation. 1/6 of those encamped there perished. Those who survived were trained by Baron von Stueben in February of 1778 to become an ordered and disciplined army, ready for battle.
