  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was the first tax proposed by the British. It charged extra for all paper documents in the colonies. Many Americans were outraged by the tax and protested it in mob protests.   • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    A squad of British soldiers were called to support a sentry who was having snowballs being thrown at him. The squad arrived to see colonists throwing the snowballs at the sentry. After several attempts to try and get the colonists to stop the British soldiers opened fire. After the skirmish 5 people were dead. The Boston Massacre fueled the fire of The American Revolution.     Tea Tax
    British Parliment decided to send multiple shipments of tea to the American colonies with a small tax. The tea was actually less money then usual since it was such a large shipment and the British reduced the price. However many colonists grew furious over the tax becuase they felt like it was trying to seduce them into being more accepting of getting taxed.   • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Lexington and Concord began the Revoultionary War. British soldiers were sent to Concord from Boston to secure an arms cache. The colonists realized that they were marching to Concord and moved to intercept the British. The colonists met the British in the town of Lexington and a skirmish broke out.     Bunker (Breed's) Hill
    The British decided to attack Bunker Hill and the Americans tried to defend it. The Americans had a limited supply of ammunition and only fired at the British when they were a few feet away. The British had to retreat and gather themselves but eventually the Americans ammunition ran out and they retreated.     Common Sense was a pamphlet produced by Thomas Paine during the Revolutionary War. It helped boost the morale of the patriots and made them believe that the war was able to be won.     Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence is a document stating the colonies intentions. Thomas Jefferson, John Adams,and Benjamin Franklin were tasked with creating this document. It is very important to America today and is treated with a great deal of respect.   • Battle of Trenton and Princeton

    Battle of Trenton and Princeton
    George Wahington's army crossed the Delaware on Christmas day to deliever a suprise attack at Trenton. The battle was victorious. Afterward Wahingon's army marched to Princeton at night and captured the town. These wins gave the Continental Army hope, moral, and helped them believe the war was able to be won.     Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga was a big battle for both sides. The British decided to attack the Americans who were between them and Albany. Both armies clashed and in mop up operations the Americans captured 86 of British forces in the area. The battle was important because it gave France the confidence to enter the war as the Americans ally.     Continental Army wintering at Valley Forge
    George Washington and his men occupied Valley Forge witch had very harsh conditions. There they trained and tried to survive.It is located 22 miles from British occupied Philadelphia.   • War in the South/Charleston

    War in the South/Charleston
    The British decided to change tactis and take over the South. They believed they could get slaves and loyalists to help them win the South. They managed to take over Charleston and some of the South but the commander Nathanael Greene led the British Army on a wild chase and waited until the British supplies ran out.   • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    General Cornwallis the commander of the British forces decided to chose the Chesapeake Bay as his base just as a French fleet arrived. George Washington realized that now was the time to act. He ordered 5,000 troops to block Cornwallis' escape by land. The French naval fleet blocked the British escape by sea.After 3 weeks of bombardment Cornwallis surrendered witch ended the War.
