  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The start of the battle known as the shot heard round the world.
    Militia initially outnumbered and fell back, but then reenforced.
    British tactically retreated to the safety of Charlestown.
    Militia then moved and started the seige of Boston.

  • Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

    Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
    Small force captures an entire British detatchment with only 1 casualty.
    Weapons in the fort also looted and shipped to break the seige at Boston

  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Colonial forces alerted that redcoats planned to occupy Bunker Hill.
    They decide to entrench there before the British do.
    When the British discover them there, they assault the patriots defenses.
    After the third wave, the colonists are defeated and retreat to Cambridge.
  • Battle of Trenton/Princeton

    Battle of Trenton/Princeton
    Takes place after Washington's crossing of the Delaware.
    Battle against Hessian forces in Trenton.
    Battle was a huge victory for the colonists and inspired re-enlisting from many soldiers.
  • Battle of Saratoga- Bemis Heights

    Battle of Saratoga- Bemis Heights
    General Burgoyne of the British attacks the colonists, pressing a percieved advantage.
    He is defeated, and a portion of his defenses are captured.
    While retreating, the British force meets a large colonial army at Saratoga, forcing the redcoats to surrender.

    Siege of Charleston

    British wanted to win the war in the south and move up, and they wanted Charleston as a base for a northern base of operations.
    Launch more than twice the amount of redcoats than the colonist defenders.
    With inadequate defenses and cut off from supply, General Benjamin Lincoln of the colonists is compelled to surrender.
  • Battle of King's Mountain

    Battle of King's Mountain
    Loyalist militia is recruiting soldiers and protecting General Cornwallis' flank.
    Rebels plan to attack them.
    Loyalists with this information attempt to retreat to Cornwallis' larger army.
    The colonists catch up to them and surround them, giving the colonists a decisive victory forcing the enemy to surrender.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens
    Scarce force of colonists led by Brigadier General Morgan.
    Turns around the campaign for the colonists in South Carolina.
    Having been chased by the British for a while, the colonists decide to fight pinned against a river rather than be caught fording it.

  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    Battle that caused Britain to negotiate an end to the conflict.
    General Cornwallis surrounded at Yorktown by American and French troops as well as the French fleet.
    Initially bombarded, then the ground forces slowly moved in.
    With the colonial artillery getting closer and closer, the British situation rapidly deteriorated and Cornwallis surrenders for a major colonist victory and the winning of the war for what would become the United States we know today.
