The Women's Christian Temperance Union beseeched the provincial government to grant women the right to vote. They did this by petitioning them. When it was ignored, a mock parliament was organized.

Over four hundred suffragists petitioned James Whitney, the Ontario Premier at that time. This petition carried around 100,000 signatures advocating for women's suffrage.
