    The Great Hurricane of Galveston

    A Category 4 hurricane that struck Galveston with winds at 145 mph and a 15-foot-deep storm surge. The hurricane killed at least 8,000 people and left another 10,000 homeless.

    Texas legislature passed the 19th amendment which allowed women the right to vote.
