    Columbus sailed the ocean in 1492. His goal was to find a quicker rite to Asia. His crew saw land and they docked there. Columbus called Native Americans Indians because he thought he landed in India.

    Alvarez was the first Spanish explorer to map the Northern Gulf of Mexico. He was the first European to see the Texas coast. Once He reached America he established a colony.Like most European explorers he dreamed of undiscovered metals and gems.

    Cortes most amazing accomplishment is taking over the Aztec. I'm going to explain how they defeated the Aztecs. A Indian girl named Malintzin helped him over take Moctezuma. One big reason he token over the Aztecs was because the gold,silver,and other precious metals. Once they conquered the Aztecs they named the city New Spain.

    Cabeza a wrote in his journal "the only way of leaving this land is by dying ". They made three little boats thinking it would make it to Europe. The ships got swept in a huge storm on the coast of Galveston . He set sail again but his poorly anchored ship was washed out to sea.

    Like most explorers he dreamed of riches from the newly discovered land. He brought with him 5ships,600 soldiers, and some horses. The Indians excited him because they wore gold jewelry. They asked where they got it and it they said Apalachee most of the explorers died on the voyage. Once they got there their not a sign of gold.

    Corondos goal was to to conquer Cibola. He brought the largest group Europe has ever brought to America. It included 300 soldiers, several religious officials, and more than 1000 Mexican Indians.
  • Juan de Oñate

    Juan de Oñate
    Oñate led 500 colonist through the Chihuahuan desert. It took them 3months to get out of the desert. Once they saw the Rio Grande he wrote it look like heaven to him and the colonist.
  • La Salle

    La Salle
    La Salle was different compared to most explorers because he was French. His expedition started when he claimed the whole Mississippi River for France. He named the first region he ran into Louisiana he named in after his King Louis XIV. He had in his control 300 soldiers, 4ships, and settlers with he. Some of the sailers left the expedition and told the Spanish about it. One of his ships was captured by Spanish pirates.He settled a colony and it got destroyed by Indians.
