Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York City to a wealthy family. He was the second of four children, Roosevelt was home-schooled and then attended Harvard University, graduating in 1880.

Roosevelt and Rockefeller had a fued because Roosevelt disliked the corruption of the new class of super rich and wanted to put a stop to it. In 1902, Roosevelt created public demands for "trustbusting" which prompted him to file suit under the Sherman Act against the biggest railroad trust in the country (Rockefellers buisness).

Congress passed the bill by a huge margin, and President Roosevelt signed it into law on February 19, 1903. The act prohibits railroad companies from giving rebates to businesses that ship large quantities of goods and giving power to those businesses to artificially lower shipping prices.

On March 3, 1903, Roosevelt established the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. It was created to protect egrets and other birds from extinction through plume hunting. Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge contains a mosaic of over 5,400 acres of wildlife habitat.

In the 1904 presidental election, republican Theodore Roosevelt defeated the Democratic nominee, Alton B. Parker. Roosevelt's victory made him the first president who ascended to the presidency upon the death of his predecessor to win a full term in his own right.

In June, 1906 Roosevelt signed the pure food and drug act. The act prohibited the sale of misbranded or adulterated food and drugs in interstate commerce and laid a foundation for the nation's first consumer protection agency, the Food and Drug Administration. The act was created due to the shocking disclosures of insanitary conditions in meat-packing plants, the use of poisonous preservatives and dyes in foods, and to cure-all claims for worthless and dangerous patent medicines.

Congress set aside over 1,500 square miles of land for what would become Yosemite National Park (America's third national park). Then in 1906, the state-controlled Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove and they became under federal jurisdiction with the rest of the park in order to protect it and let the public admire it as well.

It was established on september 24, 1906 and was the first US national monument. The monument's boundary encloses an area of 1,347 acres and is composed of igneous rock. The tower is a sacred site for many Plains Indians as well as a popular site for rock climbing.

In 1909 Roosevelt left the presidency and went on an African safari to collect specimens for the Smithsonian's new Natural History museum, now known as the National Museum of Natural History.

In the 1912 presidental election Roosevelt is nominated for the presidency by the Progressive Party. The Bull Moose Party was derived from the characteristics of strength and vigour often used by Roosevelt to describe himself. It was created in hope to advance progressive ideas and unseat President William Howard Taft.
