Roosevelt was born on Oct 27th, 1858 in New York City and was one of four siblings. From a young age, according to his tutors, he showed a massive and impressive intelligence to the world around him. -
When Roosevelt was the Vice President to McKinley, McKinley was shot on Sept 14th, 1901 and Roosevelt was sworn in as the new President shortly thereafter (according to the Presidential order of succession). -
In October 1902, a dire coal famine had stricken the country, leaving many businesses and families without the main power and fuel source at the time, mainly due to riots. Roosevelt managed to settle the riots and brought peace once more among coal miners and workers. -
(This Act was named after Senator Stephen B. Elkins of Virginia). This Act was passed because of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company wanted to see an end to rebates (huge refunds on businesses who transported large quantities of their project) and this act gave the courts the power to end the discrimination on these rebates. -
President Roosevelt knew how much nature and the protection of wildlife was important to American society (and the world), so he established Pelican Island in Florida to be a sanctuary for mainly birds and wildlife). -
After President McKinley was assassinated, Roosevelt served the remainder of McKinley's term before he ran again for real in November 8th, 1904 against Democratic candidate Alton B. Parker, where Roosevelt won a popular electoral vote. -
As national parks in the U.S were on the rise (the most famous Yellowstone), Yosemite and another area of the park called Mariposa Grove still remained under the fists of the state they laid in (California) until Roosevelt proclaimed the territories national parks to preserve nature in 1906. -
Before the Pure Food and Drug Act passed in 1906, a lot of companies were lying in the labeling of their products, such as mishandling alcohol into medicine prescribed by doctors. The passage of the Act also led to the creation of the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). -
When Roosevelt backed down from the Presidency in 1909, he and his son embarked on a safari trip to Africa, hunting game and enjoying the beauties of the Savannah, while Taft would take the ropes of the Presidency. -
Taft didn't want to becomes President as well as undoing all of the Progressive Movements that Roosevelt had put in place, so Roosevelt ran again in 1912 under the Bull Moose Party, which is a Progressive political party. -
