    After the assassination of William Mckinley, Roosevelt assumed he was going to be the next president. He was then announced president for the first time in September, 1901. The significance was that Roosevelt was the youngest president thus far.

    A strike by the United Mine Workers of America in eastern Pennsylvania. The strikes were for higher pay, shorter workdays, and recognition in their union. The strike affected America by threatening to shut down the fuel supply in largely populated U.S cities. Roosevelt tired to persuade the union to end the strike by promising that he would make an effort to study the causes of the strike and make a solution.
  • National Reclamation Act

    National Reclamation Act
    The Reclamation Act funded irrigation projects for the arid lands of 20 states in the West. Roosevelt wanted to help the welfare of the west and he showed the importance of helping it flourish, and so he signed the act. The act irrigated the west through a series of dams on waterways.

    Teddy Roosevelt signed the act that was intended to forbid railroads from providing discounts to preferred customers.

    Roosevelt's victory made him the first president who won from the death of another president. Roosevelt took office in September 1901 following the assassination of his predecessor, William McKinley.

    The Court ruled 5 to 4 against the stockholders of the Great Northern and Northern Pacific railroad companies, who had basically formed a monopoly and dissolved the Northern Securities Company. Roosevelt instructed his Justice Department to break up this holding company on the grounds that it was an illegal combination acting in restraint of trade.

    Congress set aside over 1,500 square miles of land for what would become Yosemite National Park. This was America's third national park. In 1906, the state-controlled Yosemite Valley.
