The Rough Riders fought the Spanish over Cuba. Roosevelt led his flanking position and the Spanish fled. American forces then assembled for an assault on the city of Santiago through the San Juan Hills. Teddy was known as a Hero for this because it gave the US a win over the Spanish. -

Upton Sinclair "The Jungle" revealed food adulteration and unsanitary practices in meat production, the harshness and degree in which this had exposed made Congress angry so they passed the Pure Food And Drug Act. -
