    The Rough Riders fought the Spanish over Cuba. Roosevelt led his flanking position and the Spanish fled. American forces then assembled for an assault on the city of Santiago through the San Juan Hills. Teddy was known as a Hero for this because it gave the US a win over the Spanish.
