Printing Press
Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. In his version, a stamp of letters would be created. Ink would be laid on top of it. A screen would then go over it before a paper was pressed down onto the press. This allowed for multiple documents of something to be made quickly, after the time was taken for the initial stamp to be carved out. -
Typewriter
The typewriter was invented by Christopher Latham Sholes. This machine allowed for people to begin typing for the first time. However, not in a way we are used to today. They wouldn't be able to simply delete any mistakes. They also typed directly onto paper, so they couldn't print multiple copies on one typewriter without typing them all by hand. -
QWERTY Keyboard
Christopher Latham Sholes invented the modern keyboard that we are used to seeing today. It was first used on a typewriter. At the beginning of their invention, they were often not very sturdy. This changed as the devices that keyboards were attached to improved. -
Cloud Storage
Joseph Carl Robnett Licklider invented cloud storage, which allows documents to be stored in external servers, so that the owner of those documents can access them easily across any device. One common example of cloud storage is Google Docs. No matter the device, if you are able to log into your account, you will have access to your documents. -
3D Printer
Chuck Hull invented a printer that would slowly build up an object made out of plastic. This allowed tangible objects to be printed. This has been used to print prosthetics in the medical field, computer pieces, and even entire houses. It has even began to become an object that some keep in their homes.
