iPhone was released by Apple in 2007. Since Apple came out it has been one of the best selling SmartPhones on the market. When the iPhone came out in 2007 there was really nothing comparable. -

Apple came out with the Apple watch in 2015. The apple watch made our SmartPhones even more readily accessible.
