On September 6, 1620, 102 Pilgrims boarded the Mayflower to sail to the New World. Because of bad weather they did not arrive until December 18, 1620. They formed the first permanent European settlement in the North America.

Henry Hudson organized the first permanent Dutch settlement in North America, New Amsterdam.

Settlers from Engalnd arrive in Maryland to form a new colony.

Thomas Hooker and one-hundred Puritans establish Hartford, Connecticut.

During this time, religion was very restricted and the type of Parliament changed several times. Finally, Nominated Parliament was chosen.

The English Civil War was a series of civil and political wars between the Roundheads and the Cavaliers.

George Fox founded the Society of Friends (Quakers). William Penn was their leader and gave them some land in Pennsylvania.

Nathaniel Bacon lead the rebellion against Colonial Governor William Berkeley. It began because a man would not pay his debt to some Indians. The Indians took to of his pigs as payment but the man said they stole them.

During this time, Catholic King James II was overthrown and replaced by his Protestant daughter Mary.

It was signed into law by William II and Mary II who would rule after the overthrow of King James II. The bill outlined specific constitutional and civil rights and gave Parliament power over the monarchy.
