    Technological Advances Within My Lifetime

  • Dial-Up

When I was younger, my parents and family had to use a dial-up internet connnection, provided to us by AOL.
  • Nintendo 64

The Nintendo 64 (N64) was one of the first gaming consoles that had three-dimmensional graphics. It's name is N64 because it has a 64-bit central processing unit. Because of these features, it was critically acclaimed back then and considered to be realistic. I had one as a child and played it from time to time.
  • Netflix

    Netflix
Originally, my family and I had used Netflix to have DVDs mailed to us once a week. Today, now that Netflix allows streaming for tv shows and movies, we use that very often.
  • Napster

    Napster
Napster was a music website in which almost all of the world's recorded music could be uploaded by individuals and allowed for anyone to listen to it. I used to use this website to listen to whatever music I felt like listening to while I did homework, activities, etc.
  • Wikipedia

    Wikipedia
Wikipedia is an internet encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone. Because of this, some of the information on Wikipedia may be falsely uploaded or inaccurate, so it's use to find information is not often permitted in schools. Although it's not allowed in school, I still use Wikipedia for finding information on things that I may want to look up at the moment,
  • GameCube

The GameCube was another gaming console also invented by Nintendo and succeeding the N64. It was the first gaming console to have it's games stored onto discs as opposed to cartridges. I still have a GameCube after having received one for Christmas many years ago, although I don't use it as nearly as much as I did,
  • Facebook created

    Facebook created
Mark Zuckerburg and 4 other Harvard students create the social networking site facebook. I created a facebook account during about 2009, and I still use facebook today.
  • YouTube

YouTube is a video sharing webiste in which almost all of it's content is uploaded by users that don't run the website. Users can upload, share, view, and comment on other user's videos as well as their own. I don't personally upload videos to YouTube but I do enjoy watching videos on it from time to time.
  • Andriod

Andriod is an operating system in which some smart phones run on today. Some people compare Andriod to the iPhone, mainly because they are today's leading smartphones and people generally pick one smartphone over the other. Being in an age of technology, I personally use a smartphone that runs on an Andriod operating system.
  • Spotify created

    Spotify created
Spotify is a free music-streaming program that allows you to choose whatever you'd like to listen to and also allows you to create your own radio station based off of an artist, song, genre or album (much like Pandora). Unlike Napster though, music is put onto Spotify not by it's users but by the artists and their respective record labels, therefore some artists/record labels choose for their music not to be streamed on Spotify. I use Spotify very often today.
