Chinese Exclusion Act
This was the first significant law restricting immigration into the United States. Later on in the spring of 1882, the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed by Congress and signed by President Chester A.Arthur. This act brought an absolute of a 10 year ban on Chinese laborers immigrating to the United States. -
Sherman Antitrust Act
The Sherman Antitrust Act was a landmark of the U.S. aimed to prevent businesses from colluding or merging to form monopolies which could lead to price manipulation and can take control of markets. Soon later this law was passed down by Congress and signs into law by President Benjamin Harrison. -

As World War 2 was about to end in 1945, nations were in ruins, and the World wanted peace. Representatives of 50 countries gathered at the United Nations Conference on International Organization in San Francisco, California from 25 of April to 26 of June in 1945. -
Cold War Begins
The Cold War began after the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945, when the uneasy alliance between the United States and Great Britain on the one hand and the Soviet Union on the other started to fall apart. The United States is widely considered to have won the Cold War, as the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, and the U.S. emerged as the dominant superpower. -
Korean War
The war started in June of 1950 and didn't end until July 27 in 1953, after the signing of an armistice agreeing that the country would remain divided. Brown v. Board of Education
On May 17, 1954, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren delivered the unanimous ruling in the landmark civil rights case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas. State-sanctioned segregation of public schools was a violation of the 14th amendment and was therefore unconstitutional. It began with arguments presented to the Supreme Court in December 1952, was re-argued in December 1953, and the final decision was delivered on May 17, 1954. -
Sputnik Launched
On October 4, 1957, the USSR launched Sputnik, the first artificial satellite to orbit Earth. The satellite, an 85-kilogram (187-pound) metal sphere the size of a basketball, was launched on a huge rocket and orbited Earth at 29,000 kilometers per hour (18,000 miles per hour) for three months. -

9/11 Terrorist Attacks
The attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon led to the US-led "War on Terror" and a shift in global security policies. Terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes and crashed them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, resulting in the deaths of nearly 3,000 people. -
