    Tang Taizong Emperor
    The second emperor of the Tang dynasty. He convinced his father, Li Yuan, to overhtrow the Sui dynasty and so he became the co-founder of the Tang dynasty. He ruled for 626 to 649 CE. Under his rule, China went through a golden age: the empire gained wealth and would have been considered the greastest empire at that time.

Near the end of his rule he became disinterested in actually ruling and during this time corrupt goverment officials ruled. He fell in love with a concubine Yang Guifei after his second wife died. Yang used her new found power to increase her family's status. During the end of his rule China went into economic distress and revolts occured, though they were mostly unsucessful it marked the end of his rule

    The Fall of the Tang Dynasty
    The dynasty began to fall when the Huang Chao Revolution. During this time, emporer Xizong starved his people. He took no notice of anything but hunting. In 875, Huang Chao began a revolt that rocked the base of the dynasty. Chang'an, the capital of the dynasty, was captured and the Da'qi was established. In 884, the uprising was degraded, but the empire's inevitible downfall continued. In 907, the final emperor, Ai. He was forced to abdicate the throne by Zhu Quanzhong.

    The Tang dynasty began because of the fall of the Sui dynasty. The Sui dynasty fell because of poor ruling under Yangdi, the ruler at the time, so he was overthrown by Li Yuan who began the Tang dynasty. The second son of Li Yuan was made emperor.

  • Huang Chao rebellion

    Huang Chao rebellion
    Huang chao was someone who had failed the civil service exam, and so he went into the illict trade. He joined Wang Xianzhio and began a rebellion. This rebellion was the final blow to the Tang dynasty. They managed to capture the Capital Chang'an and they also destroyed many cities, they tried to start their own dynasty but it did not work and the City of Chang'an was taken back from him. Though he failed in some ways he wasw the reason for the fall of the Tang because he weakened the empire.
  • Liang Dynasty Founded

    Liang Dynasty Founded
    The Liang Dynasty was founded in 907, after Zhu Quanzhong forced the Tang emperor Ai to abdicate the throne. The capital was moved to the city of Jiankang.
