    Devolution: US/Great Britian
    The original region was the British Empire and the type is economic because Britian didn't want to have to pay for war. The countries created were the US and Great Britian. In 1776, US gained independence from Great Britian. Great Britian actually let the US break away from them because they didn't want to pay for war and also, so that they would be able to trade with the US.
  • Supranationalism: Triple Entente(pre WWI)

    The countries involved in the Triple Entente were Great Britian, France and Russia. The type of supranationalism is political/military because it was right before WWI began. The purpose was to agree not to attack each other and also to keep Germany from taking over Europe.

    The original region was Southern Africa. The type of devolution is political/military because there was plenty of fighting in Southern Africa. The country created was South Africa. The first Europeans to settle there were the Dutch but when the British took over the Cape Colony, the two groups clashed. When an attempted rebellion against the Dutch from outsiders failed, they blamed the British and they began a war in 1899. Finally the British won and the Dutch gained autonomy.

    The original country was Great Britian. The type of devolution is political/military because Ireland was pushing for home rule. Countries created were Ireland and Great Britian. In the 1100s, the Pope of Ireland granted the English king control of Ireland. Towards the end of the 1800s, Ireland began to oppose British rule and pushed for home rule. Eventually, they formed Irish Republican Army, an unofficial military that staged attacks of Britian. In 1921, southern Ireland was granted home rule.

    The countries involved in the Allied Powers were Great Britian, the Soviet Union, and the US. The type of supranationalism was political/military because it was an alliance during WWII. The purpose was to be a force that opposed the Axis Powers of WWII.

    The countries involved in OPEC are Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The type of supranationalism is economic because they wanted to control the oil market. The purpose of OPEC was to control the price and distribution of oil.

    The countries involved in PLO was Palestine(Israel). The type of supranationalism is cultural because it's purpose was to centralize the leadership of various Palestinian groups.

    Devolution: Yugoslavia
    The original country was Yugoslavia and the type of devolution is cultural because there were many enthic groups in Yugoslavia. The countries created were Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. When the leader of Yugoslavia, Josip Tito, died in 1980, all of the ethnic groups clashed until finally, they all broke away and became their own countries.

    The countries involved in NAFTA were Canada, US, and Mexico. The type of supranationalism is economic because it took away restrictions on trade. The purpose of NAFTA was to eliminate tarrifs and trade restrictions.

    The original region was the UK and the type of devolution is economic because Scotland wanted more money. The countries created were UK. When the UK joined the EU, Scotland pushed for independence because they felt like they would be put at a disadvantage financially. So in 1997, the Labor Party in London gave Scotland the power to have devolution but not to be an independent state.
