*The 15th Ammendment gave citizens the right to vote.She voted in the Presidential election.She went to trial on June 17,1873 for voting.

First time voting

Nov 6, 1872

Susan voted in the 1872 Presidential Election for Ulysses S. Grant. Many people tried to stop her beause they said women were not allowed to vote.

Arrested

Nov 18, 1872

Susan was arrested at her home and charged with "Voting without having the lawful right to vote."

Trial

Jun 17, 1873

Susan went to trial for voting in the presidential election of 1872. The trial took place in New York. She lost and was fined $100.

She gave her last speech on her 86th birthday in Washingtion DC. She said,"Failure is impossible".
