    Yang Kuang gained the throne

    Many believe that Yang killed his father and older brother in order to take power. He was a typical tyrant ruler who overworked his citizens and only focused on economic prosperity. This was an eventual contributer to the colapse of the Sui dynasty
  • Jan 1, 610

    Grand Canal finished

    In 610, the Grand Canal was finished after 7 years of citizen's intense physical labor. The canal was use to transport goods from southern to northern China. It linked the Yellow and Yangzi Rivers.
  • Jan 1, 617

    Emporer Gong took power

    Emporer Gong tok power but did very little to help the dynasty and civilization. He was pretty much useless.
  • The Sui dynasty collapsed

    Empoerer Gong's short time in rule ended because the people revolted. He turned the throne over to Empoerer Gaozu, which marked the beginning of the Tang dynasty.
  • The Sui dynasty begins

    Emporer Wen founds the Sui Dynasty.
  • Unified China

    Emporer Wen defeated the surrounding city-states and unified them under one rule. Thechnologies like body armor and crossbows helped the Sui in conquest.

    Administrative accomplishments

    The Emporers WEn and Yang accomplished the following administratively through their rules:
    * centralized power
    * rotation between province leaders every three years
    * local practices all under one official law
    * land for troops and their families that they could live ona nd off of during peace times
