Mar 19, 1823 Pamphlett, Finnegan and Parsons were shipwrecked on on Moreton island. The Noonucals at Amity Point cared for them for 6 weeks. Jun 19, 1827 In June Menjieriba was renamed Stradbroke Island. Mar 19, 1828 A cotton plantation began in Moongalba. Soon after it began it was abandoned. Dec 30, 1831 Clashes between the Aborigines and Europeans occurred (10 or more). Mar 19, 1843 4 missionaries set off to Dunwich to convert aborigines. Mar 19, 1850 Dunwich was proclaimed as Moreton Bays quarantine station. Mar 19, 1864 The quarantine station was closed but continued to be used for the following decade, if needed. Mar 19, 1867 The Dunwich Benevolent Asylum was set up to house Moreton Bays elderly and homeless. Mar 20, 1894 Billy North was granted a lease over Point Lookout. For 40 years he ran cattle. At one stage he supplied beef to the Asylum. Mar 20, 1901 Moreton Bays oyster fisheries were being destroyed by an outbreak of mud worms.
