    Brown V. Topeka Board of Education

    In 1954 this case changed the national school population this case was acted upon by the U.S Supreme Court who ruled "segregated but equal" as it related to race. This case reversed the Plessy V. Ferguson of 1894 that ruled separate school for whites and blacks.

    Special Needs

    When schools first began not all children were allowed to attend at first school was for white males, then when the government got involved all children were allowed to attend by law. Even children with special needs could go but they were not really taught they were placed together to wait until they could be put into institutions.

    Diana V. California State Board of Education

    This case was about Mexican American's who could not speak English and were put into classes for mildly retarded children even though they were not retarded, this case set the foundation for future cases regarding bias based on the inability to speak the English language.

    PARC V. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

    In 1971 fourteen families sued the state of Pennsylvania on the basis the their children with intellectual disabilities were denied equal access to a public education. A three panel of Judges ruled that the state could not predetermine educability, they ruled Pennsylvania had to admit children with intellectual disabilities.
