    Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 stated that school districts must provide free and appropriate public education to students who have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities by providing services or aides that allow the student to succeed in the classroom.

  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
    The Act required states to develop assessments in basic skills. To receive federal school funding, states had to give these assessments to all students at select grade levels. Only 1% of the school is exempt from these assessments.

  • Every Student Succeeds Act

    Every Student Succeeds Act
    ESSA reauthorized the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 and replacing of ESEA, and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. ESSA requires every state educational agency to include a state plan stating its vision for implementing programs and requirements of the ESSA.
