    The individuals with disabilities act was established in 1975. This granted individuals with disabilities the right to free education.
  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act

    President Gerald Ford signed the EHA, which granted a free, appropriate public education for each student with a disability in all states. This helps assure all students with disabilities have resources available to them
  • 1986 Reauthorization

    addressed early intervention and made sure that individual states provided services to families who have children that were born with disabilite since they were born.
  • Alliyah's First New Year

    Three days after being born, I celebrated my first New Year, switching from 1999, to 2000. This was my mom's original due date.

    This supreme court case ruled that in order to meet the obligations under the IDEA, schools must offer IEP's that are reasonably created to enable a student to make progress in light of their individual circumstances.

    In August 2018, Alliyah and Megan moved into Syme Residence Hall to begin their first year of college.
