    Click Here For More Information! Bartolomeu Dias was the man that discovered the sea trade route for Europe and Asia. The route went from the Atlantic Ocean throught the Indian Ocean and to Asia. He also discovered the Cape of Storms, which is now know as The Cape of Good Hope. Dias also went on a voyage in 1497 with Vasco De Gama.

In July of 1497 he was asked by the Portugese goverenment to lead an expedition. He sailed south in the Atlantic Ocean, around the southern tip of Africa, and then continued his journey up the eastern coast of Africa.

During the Italian man's first and second journey they discovered parts of what is now South America and the Amazon. He was the first to realize that this new world was seperated from Asia. He mapped part of the eastern coast of South America on the second voyage. The America's are named after Vespucci.

After staying on the island that Columbus found, he decided to go on a journey to find the so called fountain of youth. Instead of finding the fountain, he found Florida and one of the Natives ended up shooting him &he later died from the wound.

After a magnificent journey through the jungle of what is now Panama, he stood in the waters of Pacific Ocean. Although he did not name it, he was the first European explorer to see the waters of the Pacific ocean on the eastern shore. To begin this treck Balboa along with 90 spaniards and many more Indians left &found the ocean.

His crew and him started out by sailing across the Atlantic and filling his ships with enough suppplies for the treck. After many failed attemps at finding a water way through South america he found a strait that led him to the Pacific ocean. He named that strait after himself.
