Colombus went to find a sea route to india to bring back gold to Spain. it was im portant that he brought back gold because Spain was in debt because they just got out of war and they need money. Columbus found what he thought was india but was actually North America. -

Pineda's voyage
Pineda found the first water route to the Pacific Ocean. He also was the first to map the Gulf Coast from Florida to Texas. His map of the coast led others exploring the land on the Gulf Coast. -

Cortes conquered Mexico. He also conquered all the aztecs that were living there. he found tons of gold and brought it back to Spain and he had a lot of glory. -

DeVaca discovers Texas
He was the first to explore Texas, the first to write about the Texas indians, and performed the first ''surgery'' in Texas as a medicine man. He dicovered the Karankowa, Cauhilitacan, and Jumano indians. -

Moscoso' expedition
He searched for gold. Discovered the Mississippi River. He explored Florida to Texas. Discovered Mississippi River. Moscoso took over for De Soto. -

Fray Maecos and Esteban journey
Their goal was to study the land to the north. They explored Texas and New Mexico. They told of seeing a city filled with gold: looked longer than Mexico City. The outcome was that Conquisador Coronado is sent to find this golden city. -

Coronado's expedition
His goal was to find the 7 cities of gold. Explored 5 states looking for the 7 cities of cibola and later looking for Quivera on the 2nd part of the trip. Explored Texas- North in the panhandle and Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Discovered Texas- Palo Duro Canyon and Arizona- Grand Canyon. He said dont go to texas because there is nothing good there.
