And he brought back gold, and other goods. He explored Caribbean Islands Bahamas was the first landing. The imortance: Started the Spanish exploring in North America because of the riches he found. And he made 4 trips.

    cortes Cortes' goal was to find gold. He conquered Aztecs and leader Montezuma. He brought back 6,000,000 dollars worth of gold which is 99 tons of gold by 1570. He explored Mexico. He discovered the Aztec Empire. He sparked the interest of many people to explore North and South America becasue he found so much gold.

    Pineda's goal was to find a water route to the Pacific Ocean. He wa sthe first to map the Gulf Coast from Florida to Texas. He made a report of the region. He also explored the coast from Florida to Texas. He possibly discovered the Rio Grande River. The importance is his map of the coast led to others exploring the land on the Gulf Coast.

    His goal was to find the 7 citites of gold for Spain. He explored 5 states looking for the 7 cities of cibola and later looking for Quivera on the 2nd part of the trip. He explored Texas- North in the Panhandle. Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, and Oklahoma. His discoveries were Texas- Palo Duro Arizona- Grand Canyon. He tells people that Texas is no good because it has no gold, harsh land, etc.
