    Accompanied by about 11 ships, 500 men, 13 horses and a small number of cannons, he landed in Tenochtitlan where the Aztecs thought he was a god. he then procedded to slaughter the Aztecs and take overe the city. the city was torn down, covered with dirt, and Mexico City was built on top of the ruins. He then personaly ruled over Mexico City until October 15, 1524
