His death is believed to be from drinking a mixture containing poison hemlock. The sentance passed from his trail that took place in the same year.
He had been charged with:
1. Refusing to recognize gods recognized by the state.
2. Corrupting the minds of the youth.
3. Introducing new divinities. -
