    The treaty created the boundary between BC and Russian America.

    The HBC established Fort Vancouver and it became a robust place for people to export items and goods to Russian forts in Alaska

    Simpson established Fort Langley at the mouth of the Fraser river
  • American Presence

    America has created a strong presence south of the Columbia River. Since fur trade was going well, HBC and British Gov didn't pay to much attention to the Americans.

    The HBC and Russians agreed that the Russians would not operate south of 54 degrees and 40' N latitude. In exchange HBC supplied Russia with food.

    When Gold was found along the Thompson River, the territory became known as New Caledonia. It was the catalyst for building BC, with the roads and small towns being built, BC was born!
  • Smallpox

    A miner brought smallpox from San Fran to Victoria, the disease spread very quickly and killed well over 10'000 Indians. They were quarantined because the government didn't care about them as the colonists were vaccinated.
  • Cariboo Road Construction Begins

    The road made it easier for people to get to the goldfields as well as created more jobs for people.
  • Chilcotin War

    A confrontation between the Chilcotin people and white road construction workers left 14 men dead!
  • Gassy Jack

    Gassy Jack Deighton appeared in Burrard inlet with family and a whisky barrel. He had the first saloon and it became a very popular meeting place. Now a days the area of the saloon has been named after Jack and today is called Gastown.
  • Victoria Named Capital Of BC

    This event really helped popularize Victoria, so after it became one of the biggest north American importers of Opium.

    After Confederation, people thought as school as more of helping social advancement so no matter the kids parent situation, everybody got free money
  • NWMP Formed

    NWMP were created to protect the first nations from wolvers, also was important because NWMP has evolved into todays RCMP which is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
  • CPR Is Completed

    The eastern and Western parts of the CPR finally meet at Craigellachie where Mr. Donald Smith drove in the last spike. It was very important because it connected BC to the rest of Canada and brought in many people to BC and also allowed easier trade throughout Canada.
