    Location present day north Carolina.
    Roanoke was a failed dwelling. The motivation for life in Roanoke was to expand territory and search for gold. Roanoke had two attempts to colonize but both failed. Roanoke was unsuccessful because the land was quite dry and growing crops was hard. So the Roanoke settlers had to hunt for food. Roanoke died off like most of Jamestown. Roanoke was not ready for winter and all settlers had died off.
