    By the year 2000, approximately 100 million people had access to the internet. It soon became common for people to engage with others socially online. Everyone began to utilize chat rooms for socializing.

    In 2003, a social media website 'MySpace' was created. It was a popular place to make friends and chat with people. MySpace was an original social media profile website which lead to inspiring websites/applications like Facebook.

  • Facebook's Release

    In 2005, Facebook was released by Mark Zuckerburg.

  • The Rest of the Social Networking Sites

    After Facebook, even more Social Networking Applications were created e.g. Instagram, Flickr, Tumblr etc.
