  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    The Missouri Compromise was also know as Compromise of 1820. It was created by Henry Clay. This compromise was a two part compromise. The first part was the 36;30 line witch said anying north of 36;30 was free and anything south was slave states. Secoudly, was that Maine was added as a free state and Missouri was a slave state.

    Africans in America: Nat Turners Rebellion
    Nat Turner was a religious youg man. People that he was a mystery and had seen visions. The slave rebellion took place in Virginia. He lead a group of 70 slaves . He first attacked Travis plantation. By the end of the rebellion 60 plantations familys were killed. Nat Turner was hung for what he did but he sent fear through the south.
  • Underground Railroad

    Underground Railroad
    I chose this date because this is the around date Harrit Tubman saved more then 100 slaves. The underground railroad is a secert network of people,places and routs in the north. So there is no real time and day it first started. Harrite Tubman and many helpers slaved as much as 1,000 or more slaves from the south and brought them to the north or Canada.

    The Compromise of 1850
    The Compromise was created by Henry Clay. This was a five part compromise. The first part was the California waz allowed to become a free state. Second, it split the lands into territories and voters in the territories would vote if they wanted free or slave state. Third, slave trade stopped in Washington, D.C.. Four, Texas gave up the land it was fighting over and got ten million dollars. Finally, the Fugitive Slave law was put in, it said that any run away slave would be sent back to the south

    Kansas-Nebraska Act
    In this act the territories Kansas and Nebraska were made. There were many debates over Kansas and Nebraka being free or slave states. Also that Nebraska became a free state becacuse the settlers did not like the soil for farming and Kansas was even bigger problem. A lot of slave owners went to Kansas and they started having fights over free or slave state, but in the end Kansas became a free state.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas
    John Brown was the leader of the anit-slavery group. John Brown was the first to attack and the violence soon erupted. The death toll keep rasing as the days went on. Franklin Pierce was in support of pro-slavery, he sent troops down to stop the violence. Kansas voted 3 times and pro-slavery won all of them but was charged with fraud so congress did not recongnize the consituttion and Kansas was not aloud to gone as a state. Then on January 29, 1861 Kansas finally became a free state.
  • Dred Scott Case

    Dred Scott Case
    Dred Scott Case was also known as Dred Scott vs. Standford. Dred Scott filed suit after his owner death Scott was sold to a new owner and he thought that he was on free soil he should be free. Scott lost 7 to 2 and Roger Taney said " African Americans were inferior and without rights." The court said he couldn't be free cause he was property. Also congress had no power to stop slavery to new territories. So this being said the Missouri Compromise had been void.
  • John Brown

    My abolitionist i am doing is John Brown. I chose this date becauce this is when John and 21 men raid Harpers Ferry, Virginia. He also led raids in kansas when they were trying to see if it would be a free or slave state. John and his raiders were attacked and took down by Robert E. Lee. Soon after John was hung on December 2, 1859,
  • President Election of 1860

    The election was the first election the there was a Republican party. The election was between Lincoln, Douglas, Breckinridge and Bell. Lincoln was in the middle about slavery, Douglas was for slavery, Breckinridge was for slavery and bell was for slavery. Linclon won the elecion by way more votes then the others but he never had and southers votes so the southers were angery that they reallly didnt get a chose in the vote for president and states started to leave the Union.
  • Fort Sumter

    Fort Sumter
    This was the attack that started the Civil War. The attackers were the Confederates, they left the Union after the election of 1860 when Abraham Lincoln became president. The Union was being attacked by P.G.T. Beauregard leader of the Confederartes and the Union leader that refused to surrender was Robert Anderson. The battle took place at Charleston Harbor, South Carolina.The Battle of Fort Sumter was two days and Anderson finally surrender at 2:30 p.m. on April 13.
