  • The first fleet

    The first fleet arrives in Botany Bay, beginning settlement in Australia.

    George Stephenson built the first passenger railway between Liverpool and Manchester.
  • The Australian gold rush

    Edward Hargraves discovered a ‘grain of gold’ near Bathurst in New South Wales, triggering gold rushes around Australia.
  • The eureka stockade

    To try and limit the number of people who left their jobs to search for gold, the government made people buy a licence to mine. Miners got angry about licences because they had to pay for them, the miners protested. They made a fort, a wooden barricade, which they called the Eureka stockade. There were 1000 miners inside the fort. On the 3rd of December, several hundred soldiers and police attacked the stockade. The police and soldiers were much better equipped. And destroy

    The wright brothers achieve the first controlled, powered, man-carrying flight, this is important because now we use heaps of planes, using planes today is only possible because of the wright brothers.
  • Henry Ford

    Invented the "Ford" company that created the first vehicles available for everyone. This is very important because now many people have copied ford and created more car companies.
  • Titanic

    Titanic was the world’s largest passenger steamship at that time, it hit an ice berg and sank, 1517 people died.

    This was a very important event because it led to the development of new weapons, economic issues, and more wars. It had a huge impact on economy and there were millions of deaths.
