  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    On April 18, the British Red Coats were on there way to Concord to take the militia's weapons but they were intercepted at Lexington by nearby militia after Paul Revere seen the Red Coats coming. This battle is significant because it is the official battle of the war and it set the tone for the future battles.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    This battle took place in Massachusetts where the Red Coats were able to defeat the colonial militia. Even though they lost, the colonists viewed this battle as very significant for them because it provided them with a lot of confidence.
  • Battle of Trenton

    The Battle of Trenton was shortly after President Washington crossed the Delaware. It was very significant because the colonial leader, Washington, displayed an incredible act of bravery, which again provided the colonists with confidence.

    There were two battles of saratoga in which the Red Coats won the first battle but the colonists, 10 days later, forced the British into a surrender.
  • The Battle of Savannah

    The Battle of Savannah
    On this day the British troops launched a surprise attack on the American forces in Savannah. This battle was significant because it was the largest loss for the colonists in the war.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    In the battle of Yorktown, the colonists, led by George Washington, completely encircled General Cornwallis and the Red Coats. This is often considered the most important battle of the Revolution because shortly after the British surrendered.
