the incident

9 black boy and 6 white boy have a fight on a train. when its all over two white girls walk off the train and say they have been raped.

Mar 30, 1931

grand jury indict the scottboro boys

a grand jury decides that there ahould be a traial and indict the scottsboro boys.

Period: Apr 6, 1931 to Apr 9, 1931

all but Roy Wright are official convicted.

in only one and a half weeks after the supposed crime was comitted the scottboro boy with the exeption of one are found guilty and senteced to either death or life imprisonment

Apr 6, 1933

statment retracted

6 Ruby bates (the younger one) retracts her statement saying that she was never raped as well as the doctor that examined her saying that there was no semen present from the claimed incident

Jun 23, 1933

Judge Horton court and the trial is shown to be fair

through the scond round of appaels it is shown that not all judges are bias and judge horton is quite fair

Oct 15, 1933

the cases are removed from Horton’s court and given to Judge Callaghan

after the prosocution request of mistrial

Callaghan is shown to be a completely biased judge and grossly neglects several of his parts of his oath and stone walls the defendant

norris gets death

The third trial of Clarence Norris ends in a death sentence

July 20-21: The trial of Andy Wright ends in conviction and a sentence of 99 years.
July 22-23: The trial of Charley Weems ends in conviction and a sentence of 75 years.
July 23-24: Ozie Powell pleads guilty to assaulting Blalock and is sentenced to 20 years. Rape charges are dropped.

Andy Wright and Clarence Norris are released on parole.

now two more of the boys are realesed on parole but both of them will return

Ozie Powell is released on parole.

yet again it is shown that the sccottboro boys are innocent and ozie powell is realeased on parole

Clarence Norris is paroled again.

Clarence Norris is paroled again after leaving alabama and being sent to prison again

Jul 20, 1948

Haywood Patterson escapes from prison

after repeated atempts for a retrial denied and parole denied haywood patterson is all but forgoten

Oct 20, 1976

last Scottsboro is pardoned by Governor George Wallace .

ironic because he was pardoned by the same govener that said
