  • George Washington becomes President of the United States

    (Political) George Washington became the first president of the United States of America, after serving as the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army.
  • Washington's troops reach Whiskey Rebellion

    (Political) The Whiskey Rebellion was taking place in Pennsylvania during this time. As a response to collect taxes and reduce the violence on the tax collectors, Washington sent Federal Troops. This stopped the violence, but the tax evasion still continued.
  • Pinckney's Treaty is Signed

    (International, Economic, under Washington's Term) Treaty signed that was between Spain and the United States. It agreed that the U.S would have openings to the Mississippi River. The Economic parts include the fact that the U.S could now use the Mississippi River, a major trading route.
  • Washington's Farewell Address

    (Social, Political) Washington wrote this letter to the American People near the end of his presidency. This set the standards that the President should be connected to the people, and that at the end of his term, that he should reflect to the people about what he was able to do. On the Political side of things, it warned the country about involving theirself into European matters.
  • John Adams becomes President

    (Political) John Adams becomes the second President of the United States of America.
  • XZY Affair

    (International Relations) Adams sent 3 diplomats to France to make sure that the U.S and France stay at peace. In turn, the French wanted a bribe for the U.S to speak with them, and so went the XZY Affair.
  • Kentucky and Virgina Resolutions

    (Political) Because he despised Adams, he wrote the Kentucky and Virgina Resolutions to attempt to nullify the Alien and Sedition acts.
  • Midnight Judges

    (Diplomatic) Adams appoints the "Midnight Judges", most of whom lost their job once Jefferson came in. They were to ensure that his party still had power when Jefferson took over. They were called so because they were appointed days before his term ended.
  • Thomas Jefferson becomes President

    (Political) Thomas Jefferson became the 3rd President of the United States. During this time, was a great "Revolution" in the politcal stands, with a sucessful transfer of power from one party to another.
  • Lewis and Clark start

    (Diplomatic for Jefferson) Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark out on an expedition to reach the Pacific ocean. This would allow for the land to be explored and so forth. (Economic) This exploration would allow for the country to gain Economic advantage, such as trade and a route to Asia, all of which, will deem very helpful for the country.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    (Economic) Jefferson buys the Louisiana Territory from the French for $15,000,000. This gives the Americans much more land to have, thus giving his "farming society" a chance, and making the Economy more farming based, due to the abundance of land. It also allowed the U.S to gain tax money, through the buying of the land. (International relations) Included into the $15 million purchase price, was the settle of the debt between the U.S and France.
  • Importation of slaves Banned

    (Economic - Jefferson) Jefferson signed a bill in 1804 that banned the importation of Slaves into the U.S. This dampered the Economic advantages of the slave economy, but it still continued.
  • James Madison becomes President

    (Political) James Madison becomes the fourth President of the United States. (Diplomatic) James Madison said during his address that he wanted to turn the Indians to Americans, acting almost as a father to them, continuing Jefferson's wishes.
  • Madison passes Second National Bank

    (Economic) After the First National Bank was not passed by Congress for its 20 year vote, they drafted the Second National Bank. Madison, saw that it was needed, and they used it to finance the war with Britain.
  • Monroe becomes President

  • Missouri Compromise

    (Diplomatic - Monroe) Under Monroe this was signed, it was to settle the slavery issue in Congress with statehood. Kept until the Supreme Court removed it with their Dredd Scott Decision.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    (International Relations) Monroe passed this. It stated:
    -U.S Would not bother European matters.
    -Europe wouldn't colonize The U.S
    -Any threats to colonize would be seen as a threat to the U.S Largly an empty threat, as they had already moved on to Lower Africa and India.
  • John Quincy Adams becomes 6th President

    (Political) Becomes the 6th President of the United States.
  • John Q. Adam's plan

    (Diplomatic) He had a few plans on national bettering, with a national university, better improvements to the infastructure, including roads and the like, and federal support for the arts and science.
  • Andrew Jackson becomes President

    (Diplomatic) Because he was the "common man", he had a large party for his innauguration day. This resulted in complete failure, leading to danger for Jackson. Also, his "common man" approach left America low and wet, with him doing multiple things because he "wanted to."
  • National Debt

    (Economic) John Q. Adams, by now, has lowered the National Debt to $5 million, from the former $16 Million that it was when he took office.
  • Indian Removal Act

    (Diplomatic) Under Jackson, the Indian Removal Act was passed. This went aginst the Supreme Court ruling, and really stated the fact that Jackson did what he wanted to do.
  • Bank Vetoed

    (Economic) Jackson vetoes the National Bank, giving all the money to "pet banks" and causing them to have a bit too much power.
  • Specie Circula issued

    (Economic - Jackson) Due to the worsening Economic conditions, he ordered that all lands be bought with specie, instead of cash.
  • Martin Van Buren becomes President

    (Economic) During his entire presidency, there was the one of the worst Depressions in American History.
