    The Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The Battles of Lexington and Concord took place in Lexington and Concord Massachusetts. This was the first major battle in the American Revolution. The colonists outnumbered the British by about 2,300. The "shot heard round the world" started this battle at the North Bridge in Lexington. The colonists defeated the British and dealt major damage upon the King's men.

  • The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga

    The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga
    Fort Ticonderoga was a fort held by the British that was very useful when shipping goods an supplies. Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys of Vermont snuck into Fort Ticonderoga in the night. Most of the British soldiers were asleep. Ethan Allen entered the officer's quarters and demanded the British surrender, which they did. Fort Ticonderoga held about 100 cannons, making this a very important win for the colonies.

    The Battle of Bunker Hill a win and a lose for the Americans. The colonists sat atop a hill and shot down at incoming British soldiers. The British lost over 200 man and roughly 800 were wounded. In the end, the British drove off the colonists, but took major damage.

    In The Battle of White Plains, George Washington was greatly outnumbered by General Howe and the Hessians. Washington attempted to fight them off but ended up getting force out of Harlme Heights.

    The Battle of Fort Washington was a grievous loss for the colonists. The British and Hessians had Fort Washington surrounded and badly outnumbered. Washington Magaw tried to fight back but failed. Many colonial soldiers were captured and held prisoner.

    The Battle of Trenton
    After abandoning Fort Lee, Washington and part of his army surprised a garrison of sleeping Hessians. The Hessian commander got word of Washington's attack but did nothing since it was the day after Christmas. The Continentals captured about 900 Hessians.

    Having left Trenton, Washington moved on to Princeton, New Jersey. The British commander Cornwallis left troops in Princeton and marched on Trenton. Mawhood, another British officer, lay in wait for the patriots to come. Thus a battle ensued. Cornwallis's troops he left behind joined with Mawhood and attacked Washington's army.The British were greatly outnumbered and lost the battle. Hugh Mercer, a brigadier general and a good friend of George Washington died during battle.

    The Battle of Yorktown
    The Battle of Yorktown was the last major battle of the American Revolution. Joined by the French, Washington clashed with the British in Yorktown. Cornwallis commanded the British army and surrendered after suffering great losses. Cornwallis's surrender ultimately made Britain end the war and sign the Treaty of Paris.
