  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain.
  • Proclamation Act

    The British issued a proclamation, mainly intended to conciliate the Indians by checking the encroachment of settlers on their lands.
  • The Sugar Act

    A law passed by the British Parliament in raising the taxes of sugar.
  • The Stamp Act

    This act required all colonists to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper.
  • The Quartering Act

    The act where British soldiers are able find rooms that are already lived in, in the American colonies.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Where the leaders from the American colonies met up to discus the problem of the Stamp Act.
  • Declaration of Rights and Grievances

    This was a document written by the Stamp Act Congress. It declared that taxes imposed on the colonists were unconstitutional.
  • Stamp Act Repealed

    The colonists telling the British that they will not stand for this act to go on any longer.
  • Declaratory Act

    British Parliament that accompanied the repeal of the Stamp Act.
  • Townshend Act

    Added new taxes on imports of paper, paint, lead, glass, and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    A day where a riot broke out leading the troops to fire on the mob, killing several people.
  • Committee of Correspondence

    A paper to keep colonists informed of British anticolonial actions and to plan colonial resistance or countermeasures.
  • Tea Act

    A law giving tea a tax on exportation or use.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonists that snuck onto a ship full of tea and threw it all overboard.
  • Intolerable Acts

    British Parliament that was in reaction to the Boston Tea Party.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    It was comprised of delegates from the colonies to react to the Coercive Acts.
  • Lexington & Concord

    Was the 1st battle to kick off the American Revolutionary War.
  • Bunker Hill

    Even though the colonist lost this battle it was an important confidence boost.
  • Appeal to Reason Rejected

    The British rejected the colonists appeal to reason.
  • Common Sense

    A pamphlet written by Thomas Paine, advocating independence from Great Britain.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Written by Thomas Jefferson telling the British of their independence.
