  • The French & Indian War of 1763

    The French & Indian War of 1763
    This was a war fought by the British and the French because they both wanted the land by the Ohio River Valley. Native Americans fought on the side of the French. They both wanted the land there because it was close to water and the main source on income at that time was agriculture. England wanted the territory at all cost so they did not spare any cost to claim it. Once England won the war they went into massive debt.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 restricted the colonist from going west. The British didn't want the Colonist to go west because they just acquired that land from the French and Indian war. The land was rich with soil so they didn't want to colonist to gain from that.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    First British attempt to control what the colonist could buy & sell. By making the Sugar Act the Colonist were restricted to sell and buy sugar and molasses to and from the British.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The British was in a lot of debt from the French and Indian war so they needed to tax stamps. The British made the colonist buy stamps for every important paper documentation in order to make money
  • The Boston Massacre of 1770

    The Boston Massacre of 1770
    The Boston Massacre was when some drunk colonist assaulted the British soldiers guarding the tax vault in Boston. The colonist assaulted the soldiers with bats and clubs and in response to this the soldiers shot the colonist. While the shooting happened there was one person who witnessed the event and his name was Paul Revere. He published a newspaper about the incident and the rest of the colonist were enraged.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was a act passed by the parliament that the King made to tax tea. The King not only taxed tea but they forced the colonist to buy tea from the East India Trading Company (the Kings company).
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a event directly after the Tea Act. A group of colonist called the Sons of Liberty led by Samuel Adams and they dressed up as Indians to sneak in the boat called the Dartmouth and dumped 92,000 pounds of tea into the Boston harbor. They dumped the tea because they were fed up with the king taxing them and they made the King lose £9,659 or 1.7 million in today's money.
  • The Intolerable Acts of 1774

    The Intolerable Acts of 1774
    The Intolerable Acts were a response to the Boston Tea Party. The King was furious with the colonist because they dumped £9,659 worth of tea in the Boston harbor. The King closed the Boston harbor and that made the colonist not be able to have any trade with other countries and that made many colonist die of starvation. The colonist were enraged with this and this was one of the main reasons why the colonist went to wat with the British.
  • Battle of Lexington & Concord

    Battle of Lexington & Concord
    The battle of Lexington & Concord was the first battle of the American revolution. It was a one of the only battles the colonist won before the French's help. The colonist probably wouldn't have won this battle without the help of Paul revere. Paul revere and some other people went around towns warning people and saying that the British were coming. With the help of Paul revere the colonist were prepared and that caused the victory for the colonist.
  • The Olive Branch Petition

    The Olive Branch Petition
    The olive Branch Petition was a event after the Battle of Lexington and concord. The Colonist got up and made a letter to send to the king. The letter said that the colonist wanted to be apart of the British and they wouldn't have to fight anymore. The King didn't care about this letter and he burned it.
