    To prevent more conflicts with the Native Americans, King George III said that no colonist could settle west of the Appalachians. Those that were already there were forced to move. This angered the colonist because they had fought the French for this land and now they could not even live on it.

    Stamp Act
    In order to help pay for the war debt from the French and Indian War, England passed the Stamp Act. Stamps had to be placed on many products and the stamps cost money. This raised the prices of many goods.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act ordered colonist to provide British troops with food and a place to live. England said the troops were there to protect the colonies. The colonists said they were there to keep an eye on them.
  • Boston massacre

    Boston massacre
    England had sent about 4,000 British troops (Redcoats) to Boston. This angered the colonist. They believed England would try and take away their freedom and tax them even more.On March 5, 1770 a mob of colonists had gathered around a small group of Redcoats. As the mob grew, the Redcoats panikedand opened fired and killed five colonist.

    These were started by Samuel Adams as a way to communicate throughout the colonies. These were committees of people that sent messages throughout the colonies about what was going on regarding taxes and any events that may happen.

    Act passed by England that said only the East India Company could sell tea to the colonists. The colonist did not like it because it woulde drive colonial merchants outof business.

    On the night of December 16 , 1773, a group of colonist dressed up as Indians, boarded on tea ships and dumped 324 chest of tea into the Boston harbor. England was furious. the king closed the harbor until the tea was paid for.

    First Continental Congress
    56 delagates from the colonies met in Philadephia to discuss what to do. They decided that the colonies should get a militia together and begin training. They also sent a letter to King george III asking him to open the Boston harbor and repeal the acts.

    It is the first battle of the american revolution. Two horseman ran two towns warning of the Britsh soldiers arrival.

    Townshend Act
    This act placed a tax on paper, lead, glass, paint and tea.this angered the colonist. The colonist organized boycotts and smuggled goods.
