  • Proclamation Line

    British parliament announce that no once can take land past the proclamation line.
  • Sugar Act

    • A tax on importing sugar (molasses), wine and coffee was made Parliament passes sugar act to counter smuggling of foreign sugar
    • Allowed royal officials to seize colonial cargo (corruption) ---> wrists of assistance
  • Stamp Act

    The stamp act was the first direct tax against the colonists. It required tax on all printed material, but only impacted a small percentage of the colonists - educated people (those who could read). Encouraged colonial resistance - those who understood rights.
    9/13 colonies said that the British don't have the right to tax
  • Quartering Act

    Obliged colonists to supply British troops with living quarters, bedding, food, cider, beer and rum. Caused a lot of colonists to become furious with the fact that they would have to supply British troops who were not at war with living spaces.
