  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament on March 22, 1765. The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed. The reasoning for this was the British were in debt because of the Seven years war. And they needed money. This enraged the colonists.
  • Sons of Liberty

    The Sons of Liberty was an organization of dissidents that originated in the North American British colonies. The secret society was formed to protect the rights of the colonists and to take to the streets against the abuses of the British government. They are best known for undertaking the Boston Tea Party in 1773.
  • BostonTea Party

    On the night of December 16, 1773, Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty boarded three ships in the Boston harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard. This resulted in the Coercive Acts in 1774 and pushed the two sides closer to war.

    The Battle of Trenton took place on the morning of December 26, 1776, during the American Revolutionary War, after General George Washington's crossing of the Delaware River north of Trenton, New Jersey. the battle was between the British and its German allies the Hessians against the American Colonists. the Americans won the battle. The battle boosted their morale because they suffered minimal casualties and captured almost all of the Hessians.

    In the winter Washington's stopped at valley forge to seek shelter. the temperatures were below freezing and many troops were lost because of this. this was a low point for the colonists. They had inadequate supplies and not a lot of food. this was a very harsh winter for the men in 1777.

    He was a French aristocrat who was a good friend of George Washington. he became an officer and a patriot. he was born September 6th , 1757 and died may 20, 1834. Brandywine was his first battle where he was shot in the leg and rallied the troops to retreat and then got his wound dressed.

    In Yorktown, Virginia on September 28 – October 19, 1781 was The Battle of Yorktown. The Americans and the French surrounded the British troops commanded by General Cornwallis forcing him to surrender. This was the last major battle of the war

    Born in Boston in 1706 and died April 17, 1790 Benjamin was one of our founding Fathers. He helped write the declaration of independence and the constitution. He enjoyed experimenting with electricity. He owned his own newspaper business and he was a patriot.
  • Lord Cornwallis

    He was the British Armies general. He met his defeat at the battle of Yorktown. He was a loyalist. born on December 31, 1738 and died on October 5, 1805.
  • Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas was a patriot. He was one our founding fathers and the main other of the Declaration of Independence. Born on April 14, 1743 and died July 4, 1826
