  • Proclamation of 1763

    This proclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the aplichiam mountains, The British Government feared the conflict between colonists and native americans would lead to another war. They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this proclomation because the felt they had won the right to settle in the Ohio River Valley after winning the French and indian war.

  • Stamp Act

    A law passed by Parliamant that requuired all legal and commercial document showing a tax to carry documents to carry am official stamps. This Act was made to pay of debts.
  • Quartering Act

    in 1765, the Parliament passed the Quartering Act, that allowed Red Coats to come in to your house and you have to provide them food and shelter, The colonists werent happy because they felt like they had no privacy. Parliament said it is for there safety.
  • Townshend Acts

    Raised Revenue on colonies to pay debts and taxes. they raised taxes on glass, paint, lead, tea, and other goods. British used writs of assistance to enforce acts.
  • Tea Act; Boston Tea Party

    Parliament repeals Townshend Acts, but keeps tax on tea, and passes Tea Act which gives Britian control over Tea trade, and angers colonal shippers and merchants. Because of this, the colonists have the Boston Tea party, when the colonists destroy all the tea.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts allowed British officials accused of crimes to stand trial in Britian. It was also known as the Coercive Acts.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    British troops march and reach Lexington and are met by 70 Militia men. The fight begins with the "shot heard around the world." 8 Militia men were dead and the battle was won by the British. These were the first battle of the Revolutionary war.
  • The Olive Branch Petition

    The Olive Branch Petition
    This was a letter to the king to avoid war of independance. It was signed by the colonies. It was eventually disregarded by the king.
  • Declaration of Independance

    This proclaims independance of the colonies. It says government takes away rights that they have. This finally made the colonies independant and started a new revolution.
